About Me
What I will bring to the States

My name is Jennifer Strachan, and I would be grateful for your support in electing me as your Deputy in the States.

​

I am married to Michael and we have two grown children. We have proudly called St Peter Port our home for over 27 years.

​

I grew up in the United States, where I studied mechanical engineering at Yale University, which was perfect for someone who loves to solve problems.  After an MBA and working in capital markets and finance in London for 10 years, I moved to Guernsey.

​

While I work in finance and investments, I have also worked in a variety of public service roles.

​

Many may know me from when I became CEO of Startup Guernsey (previously the Guernsey Enterprise Agency), which led me to appreciate Guernsey's small businesses, their innovation and digital expertise. It also demonstrated our strong social connections when local professionals and investors were often willing to share their expertise with startups.

​

I have also volunteered for over 10 years for Guernsey Arts because of the joy, inspiration and mental health benefits the arts bring to us all.  I was on the grants committee, supported Arts Foundation Guernsey and now work on the Funding Committee,  where I helped spearhead their membership scheme. 

​

Through these experiences, I developed a clear idea of how third-party commissioning organisations, such as charities and commissions can work well together. I see much potential in developing this model as a more efficient way to deliver a goal and engage Guernsey's amazing army of volunteers.

I currently work in finance for IAM Advisory, focusing on sustainable investment. I am known for rolling up my sleeves and working in a team.
